Lady Mary Salter is something of an oddity amongst high society ladies.
Firstly she is unmarried despite being in her late 20s. In fact worse than that she seems to rebuff any advances made by any gentlemen regardless of how good a match it is.
Naturally this has started some somewhat unsavoury rumours about her Character though such rumours have no proof. Lady Mary sees to that.
The other peculiarity about her is that she actually cares. The Georgian nobility rarely patronised anything more than half heartedly. It just wasn’t proper or British.
Lady Mary is however dedicated to the concept of Justice and thus has taken a Thief Taker’s Licence.
Unlike her colleagues Lady Mary believes in getting the right result as much as getting her bounty. She of course has the money for such principles. Few other Thief Takers can afford to ask questions that might jeopardise their bounty.
She hasn’t been to Church since she came of age but that is through disagreement with the institution rather than the faith. She considers herself a good Christian regardless of how the Church defines it.
She has a remarkable list of contacts and many skills she can use in her mission. Foremost of which is being the swordswoman in London.
Relationships
Mr Levine: “He’s just parroting the words of the Powers at Be, he doesn’t believe in justice.”
Daisy: “As much as I’d like to believe this girl is just always in the wrong place at the wrong time she is a very suspicious source.”
Mr Finch: “He believes in nothing and works for a cheque. He has no place in the justice system.”
Mrs Finch: “A remarkable woman and one of principle. She is very naive though. The Devil is not always bright red with horns and a tail, he can hide in the most innocent looking frames.”
Charlie: “However distasteful it may be some times the Law is insufficient in the pursuit of Justice. I shall give this troubled young man room to follow his quest wherever it may lead.”
